Part-time Helpline and Social Media Assistant

The Crime Victims Helpline (CVH) is a listening and support service for victims of crime in Ireland. We provide time and space for victims to talk about their experiences. We also provide information about the criminal justice system and referrals to resources in the community.

The Role:

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dynamic person to join our small team. The person in this role will answer the Helpline and respond to victim contacts over text and email. They will also provide support to Helpline volunteers.

The person in this role will be responsible for maintaining CVH’s social media presence and will assist in the production of a volunteer newsletter. They will work in close collaboration with the Helpline Support Worker and will report to the Executive Director.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide Helpline assistance to callers
  • Provide support to Helpline volunteers
  • Check and respond to emails, texts and other communications from victims of crime
  • Update the Helpline’s social media accounts
  • Assist with production of volunteer newsletter
  • Carry out routine office tasks

The ideal person will have:

  • Experience providing support and information, preferably over the phone
  • Awareness of issues impacting victims of crime
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Ability to use technology creatively and be an enthusiastic user of social media
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using MS Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • A “can do” attitude

Hours: The role is part-time, two days (15 hours) a week. Opportunity for additional hours will arise from time to time to help cover annual leave and other events.

Location: Dublin 2

Salary: €12.50/hour; permanent contract subject to funding.
